Towards Net Zero Home Tour
Join us Saturday, October 8th from 10am-1pm for Montpelier's first Towards Net Zero Home Tour! Visit homes around Montpelier to learn how your neighbors are taking action to reduce their energy use and use renewable energy. Learn about solar photovoltaics, heat pumps, pellet boilers, weatherization options, solar hot water, and much more!
Cost: Free and open to the public.
How: Pick up your map at the Farmers' Market on Saturday morning between 9am-1pm. The map will show you the 14 locations on the tour. You can visit just one, or set out to see them all! Pick a route and take the tour in whatever order you prefer. We encourage everyone to take the tour on foot or on your bike, as parking is limited at many of the homes on the tour.
What: At each home, the homeowner(s) will be available to talk about the improvements they have made to their home, explain how it has helped them save energy, and answer your questions. We'll have a wide diversity of homes on the tour, from tiny, super-insulated houses to older homes that have been weatherized, to homes with solar photovoltaics and solar hot water, to homes with pellet and cordwood boilers to reduce fossil fuel use.
Plus! From noon-2pm there is an Open Streets Event happening on Park/School/Loomis, so be sure to swing by there at the end of your tour to see some great examples of how we can make Montpelier more bike and pedestrian friendly and reduce car use.
