The Montpelier Energy Challenge
Montpelier is major player in the Vermont Home Energy Challenge ! Our goal to weatherize 3{5c7c117355094fac0d774798b6c05eb9b984bcd12bdd47ca30cb6ea7b3d109b4} of Montpelier’s homes this year. All of the towns participating in the challenge in hopes of winning significant support for our city's energy efficiency programs. The Energy Fair was a great start, and now is the time to keep the momentum going. So check below for information, resources and local actions to learn how you can make your home warmer in the winter, cooler in the summer and save big money if you get the work done soon.
Your Montpelier Energy Action Committee and any one else who wants to help us promote energy efficiency around town will be marching together in the 3rd of July Parade!
Although the heating season may be over but there is no better time to get weatherization projects started. Contractors would love to work with you this summer towards earning cash rewards by completing projects soon.
You can save money on energy assessment audits and weatherization projects through Efficiency Vermont, local contractors, and multiple financing agencies. Check out the resources on the links above.

An Additional Summertime Incentive to Start Saving Energy and Money
Efficiency Vermont will be offering a seasonal promotion of an additional $500 completed job incentive to its customers participating in its Home and Building Performance programs. This could be that extra sweetener needed this summer to motivate more people to invest in retrofits — for Vermont Home Energy Challenge communities or anyone. This offer will be extended to qualifying homeowners and businesses completing jobs by August 31st, and sending in their paperwork (completed signed incentive form) by September 30th. Along with the customer bonus incentive, a contractor incentive of an additional $100 per completed job will also be offered. This will be offered to make up for potential extra hours required on the contractors’ part to complete paperwork and test-outs for what we hope is a deadline-driven customer “rush” to complete projects. Contact Customer Support Department, Efficiency Vermont at 888 921 5990 with questions.
Look out for us promoting this on your doorstep in June.
The members of the the Montpelier Energy Action Committee are also a great source of information if you have any questions about how best to proceed in this exciting, cost saving, and ecologically vital endeavor! They will be visiting different neighborhoods on Saturday June 15th and Thursday June 27th. They will be explaining how you can benefit from joining our challenge and help you get started on the process.
